Leaving Central Virginia for good? Richmond, VA movers keeps the whole run on one truck with one crew, Richmond to the new door, on a flat price set in writing.

Straight up I-95 to the District

Richmond to DC is one of the most-driven runs we have. It’s a clean shot north on I-95 — past Ashland, Fredericksburg, Quantico, and across the Beltway into the District. About 110 miles. We can usually load you in the morning and have the truck backed in at your DC address the same afternoon, or first thing the next day if you’d rather we stage overnight.

Why folks make this move

Most of our DC customers are heading north for a federal job, a Hill office, a contract gig, or grad school — and plenty are coming back to Richmond later when the commute and the rent stop making sense. I grew up here, started Heaven’s Moving in 2015, and I’ve run this corridor enough to know the choke points: the merge through Springfield, the bridge crossings into the city, and how tight some Dupont and Capitol Hill blocks get for a 26-footer.

What’s different at the DC end

Richmond loads tend to be brick rowhouses with stoops and steep original stairs, or West End colonials with full basements. DC trades that for narrow city streets, loading-zone permits, and buildings with strict freight-elevator windows. We sort the parking and the building rules before move day so the crew isn’t circling the block. Same uniformed, W-2 movers both ends — we run our own trucks, hold US DOT and MC authority plus Virginia intrastate registration, and never hand your shipment to another carrier.

Tell us the date and the size of your place and we’ll lock the flat rate in writing.

Route Questions

How long does a move from Richmond to DC take?
It's roughly a two-hour run up I-95, so most Richmond-to-DC moves load and deliver the same day, or first thing the next morning if you book a late slot. The same crew that wraps your furniture in the Fan or Short Pump is the one carrying it into your DC place.
Is the price a real flat rate?
Yes. We walk your home or take a video survey, then put a binding flat number in writing before the truck rolls. No hourly meter creeping up because of DC traffic on the 14th Street Bridge or a parking permit delay — the figure you sign is the figure you pay.
What drives the difference between the price bands?
Home size is the big one, then access on both ends — a third-floor Capitol Hill walk-up or a building with a reserved freight elevator window changes the labor. Packing, a piano, and long carries from the truck factor in too. We price all of it up front.
