Why I started Heaven’s Moving
I’m Wesley Tate, and I started Heaven’s Moving in 2015. I grew up here in Greater Richmond, and before this I spent years running a warehouse floor and a freight dock — learning how loads get built, how trucks get routed, and exactly where a move goes sideways when nobody planned for it. The thing that bothered me most back then was watching neighbors get quoted one number over the phone and handed a much bigger one at the end of the day. So I built my company on a single promise: we put your price in writing before we load a single box, and that number is what you pay.
A Richmond crew that knows Richmond houses
This region doesn’t move like anywhere else. We carry sofas down the steep original stairs of a 1900s Fan District rowhouse, work the stoops and on-street parking off Monument Avenue, and squeeze loads through the narrow doorways of Church Hill and Jackson Ward historic homes. We load tobacco-row loft conversions in Scott’s Addition and Shockoe, turn around VCU rentals on lease-change weekends, and empty the full basements and attics that come standard on Central Virginia homes. Then we drive the other half of the job — the brick colonials and three-car garages of Short Pump, Glen Allen, and Midlothian, and the wider county lots across Chesterfield, Henrico, and Hanover.
We work all four seasons here
Central Virginia gives you humid summers, real spring storms, and the winter ice storm that shuts down the city’s hills. My crews lay heavy floor protection on every job — against summer mud, road salt, and the red Virginia clay that gets tracked everywhere — and we know how to handle a stoop and a steep staircase when it’s slick. We plan around the weather instead of pretending it isn’t there.
How we’re built
Heaven’s Moving is a real, licensed Virginia moving company. We hold US DOT and MC authority for interstate work plus Virginia intrastate moving registration, we run our own trucks, and every mover on your job is a W-2, background-checked, uniformed employee of mine — not day labor, not a subcontractor, and not some carrier a broker emailed. We carry our own insurance. The crew that loads you in Richmond is the same crew that unloads you, whether that’s across Henrico or down I-95 to a new city.
- Founded in 2015, owner-run, Richmond-based
- Our own trucks and our own W-2 uniformed crews
- US DOT + MC authority and Virginia intrastate registration
- Binding flat rate written before we load
- 14 movers, 18 of us in total — office to dispatch to the truck
The people you’ll deal with
You’ll talk to Brianna Coles in the office for scheduling, certificates of insurance, and billing. Roy Felton runs our daily truck board, so he’s the one making sure the right crew and the right truck show up on time. On the job you’ll meet one of my crew chiefs — Jamal Brooks handles pianos and specialty pieces, Cory Adkins leads our long-haul runs, and Trey Sutton is the one I send when there are rowhouse stairs and stoops involved. We’re a small enough shop that I still know every job on the board, and big enough to move your whole house in a day.
